Work-Integrated Learning: The Cornerstone of French Engineering Education

UTSEUS was co-founded in 2005 by Shanghai University and the French University of Technology Group (UTs). As a pioneer in Sino-European cooperative education, the institute integrates the French "Grandes Écoles" elite engineering education philosophy with the Chinese modern university system. We aim to cultivate high-end engineering talents with a global perspective, cross-cultural communication skills, and exceptional practical engineering capabilities.

At UTSEUS, students benefit from a educational model rooted in the French engineering tradition, where academic excellence and hands-on experience go hand in hand. As an integral part of their curriculum, our students complete a minimum of 20 weeks of full-time internships in companies, where they apply their technical knowledge and skills—alongside their communication and teamwork abilities—in real-world professional settings.

Working alongside specialists from diverse backgrounds, they gain valuable insights into the demands of an engineering career, refine their professional aspirations, and contribute meaningfully to complex corporate projects.

Throughout the internship, students remain under the academic supervision of UTSEUS. At the same time, each host company appoints an experienced mentor to guide the student throughout their placement. The internship concludes with an oral defense, where students present and showcase their accomplishments.
