On the morning of June 23, Mrs.Frédérique VIDAL, French Minister of Higher Education, Research and Innovation, led a delegation of French higher education to visit Shanghai University. Mr. Jin Donghan, Party Secretary and President of Shanghai University and Mrs. Wu Minghong, Vice President of Shanghai University, hosted the guests at the VIP Lounge of the International Conference Center. Mr. Cui Wei, Deputy Minister of the International Department and Director of the International Cooperation, Mr. Liu Yi, Deputy Director of the International Cooperation and Mr. Liu Wanyu, Dean of Sino-French School of Engineering, or UTSEUS, attended the meeting.
The two sides exchanged views on Sino-French cooperation. President Jin briefed the exchanges and cooperation between Shanghai University and France, introducing the achievements gained by UTSEUS. President Jin also expressed his determination to strengthen further cooperations with France in the areas of higher education, scientific research and innovation. Minister Frédérique VIDAL highly praised the achievements of Shanghai University in Sino-French cooperation, especially the achievements made by Sino-French Joint Engineering School in the training of talents in China and France. Mrs. VIDAL concluded that Sino-French cooperation would play an important role in the internationalization strategy of Shanghai University. After the meeting, President Jin and Vice President Wu took a group photo with the delegation.
The delegation also had a meeting with the representatives of Chinese and French students from UTSEUS, and then discussed the quality of Sino-French cooperative education with Deans from eight Sino-French cooperative schools including UTSEUS. The delegation also included the Presidentof the French National Academy of Sciences, the Dean of the French National Institute of Health and Medical Research, the President of University of Toulouse III and representatives of other French universities, accompanied by personnel from the French Embassy in China and the Consulate General in Shanghai.
