On the morning of September 19, 2018, the China International Industry Fair, or CIIF, jointly organized by seven Chinese ministries, United Nations Industrial Development Organization, and Shanghai Municipal Government, opened at Shanghai National Exhibition Center. The CIIF is a leading event on equipment manufacturing in China, it stages every autumn in Shanghai, including Theme Shows, Scientific & Technological Innovation Show, conferences and seminars.
Among all the subjects, the Colleges and Universities Exhibition takes up most of the space and contents in the Scientific & Technological Innovation Show. Shanghai University owns an individual stand area, dedicating into commercialization and industrialization of the technology and innovative achievements.
One of the most eye-catching sub-stands among all is the one with the representatives from the French University of Technology of Troyes (UTT). With Shanghai University, UTT is also one of the founding members of the Sino-French School of Technology of Shanghai (UTSEUS). Since its establishment in 2005, UTSEUS has educated more than 2000 Chinese and international students by means of the “Personalized Education” mode used in the French engineering education, with a fusion of advantages and resources in both Sino-French sides.
Professor Jérôme Plain, the director in charge of industrial affairs at UTT, as well as the delegation he leads, showed some of the edge-cutting technologies on the fair, like software solutions for optimizing logistics and production flows, indoor/Outdoor Location, real-time 3D scan software, artificial intelligence applied to video-surveillance, surface plasmon resonance for molecule detection and expert in optical security feature, and so on. Meanwhile, Mrs. Marion Quillery, Head of the Student Internship Program at UTT, from the delegation, was seeking more possible projects of student mobilities between China and France by the chance of this fair. Such a vision will bring UTSEUS a more international and intercultural environment to cultivate future professional elites.
In the afternoon, professor Jérôme Plain also attended the forum “University IP Protection and Operation under the New Trent of Technology Transformation” and made a keynote presentation, to present the UTT’s intelligent patterns and partnership universities/enterprises in France.
Two alumni of UTT,Maxime de Simone and Morgan Pelletier also joined the delegation at the stand. They’ve established their own start-upMon CTOat France since graduated from UTT, helping other start-ups accelerate the realization of technological projects, providing new tailor-made solutions to innovative programs. They are now expanding their business to the Asia-Pacific market, towards an international and diversified way of development.
We believed, through this joint stand at the fair, French UTs, especially UTT, will extend the collaboration with Shanghai University to many other areas in research, it will also greatly improve the development of UTSEUS in engineer cultivation, level up the Sino-French educational collaboration to a wider and deeper dimension.
