On March 28, 2025, the UTSEUS successfully held the closing and awards ceremony for the 5th Student Innovation Competition "Integrate in Learning, Insight in Innovation" at the Shanghai University Engineering Training Center. The competition was jointly organized by UTSEUS, Eaton (China) Investment Co., Ltd., and the Shanghai University Engineering Training Center.

Also attending the event were leaders and faculty from the Shanghai University Academic Affairs Office and the Engineering Training Center, along with Professor Wang Yong, Executive Dean of UTSEUS, and Professor Fabien Pfaender, French Dean of UTSEUS. The closing ceremony was co-hosted by Wang Jiahao, an undergraduate student from the Class of 2022  majoring in Information Engineering, and Anaïs FERREIRA from UTBM.

Following a highlights video of the competition, Professor Zhao Ling, Director of the UTSEUS Laboratories and Head of the Competition Organizing Committee, summarized the overall situation and key highlights of this year's event. He reported on the judging principles, evaluation process, and award categories. An innovative feature of this year's competition was that the final Grand Prize would be determined through an on-site pitch and judging session during the closing ceremony, building upon the preliminary online evaluation.

Professor Wang Yong, Executive Dean of UTSEUS, offered words of encouragement to all participating students, stating that they were all winners for daring to dream and challenge themselves. He expressed his hope that students could leverage the competition platform to grow into outstanding innovative talents with international perspectives, professional capabilities, and a sense of responsibility.

Ms. Ding Hui from the Shanghai University Academic Affairs Office, Mr. Qiu Junting, CTO of Shanghai Middol Information Technology Co., Ltd., and Mr. Zhang Haiguang, Deputy Director of the Engineering Training Center, presented award certificates and prize money to the second and third prize-winning teams in both the Idea Track and the Sprint Track.

The teams "E起从容应队" and "从容应队" from the Idea Track, and "对不队" and "智翼行易" from the Sprint Track were selected as the Grand Prize candidates for their respective tracks. They were given five minutes each to present their projects, covering project concept, technical solutions, application prospects, and business plans, vying for the top awards based on live scoring by the judges. Li Haitian from "E起从容应队" secured the Idea Track Grand Prize for their project "HVAC System Retrofit Model Based on Data Analysis," presented impressively in English. The challenge topic was provided by Akila (Shanghai) Technology Co., Ltd. Similarly, Zhang Chaoming from "对不队" captivated the judges with their clear and concise English presentation for their project "Embedded System Design for Delivery Riders' Safety," winning the Sprint Track Grand Prize.

The announcement of the Grand Prize winners brought the ceremony to its climax. Professor Wang Yong, Executive Dean of UTSEUS, presented the Sprint Track First Prize to all members of "从容应对." Professor Fabien Pfaender, French Dean of UTSEUS, presented the Sprint Track First Prize to the "智翼行易" team. Mr. Qiu Junting, CTO of Middol Technology, presented the Idea Track Grand Prize to the "E起从容应队." Mr. Patrick Berbon, Founder of CM Venture Capital, presented the Sprint Track Grand Prize to the "对不队" team.

A thriving innovation ecosystem relies heavily on the strong support of excellent enterprises. The success of this competition was made possible by the full participation of senior technical and management experts from UTSEUS's partner companies. These corporate partners not only provided cutting-edge project topics but also empowered youth innovation with their industry foresight. During the ceremony, UTSEUS leadership presented corporate partner awards in recognition of their contributions. Ms. Sui Pingping, Head of Student Affairs at UTSEUS, presented the "Empowering Future Innovators Award" to partners from Panthronics AG and Micropole Software Technology Co., Ltd. Vice Dean He Zhuoheng presented the "Innovator & Visionary Award" to partners from Haaenclean Environmental and Western Digital Corporation. Vice Dean Laure presented the "Innovation Transmission Excellence Award" to partners from Alibaba Cloud, Middol Technology, and Akila Technology. The competition organizing committee established a special "Sustained Innovation Partnership Award" for Eaton (China) Investment Co., Ltd., in recognition of their long-term support for the UTSEUS Innovation Competition.

Professor Fabien Pfaender, French Dean of UTSEUS, delivered a speech, expressing his delight at witnessing the fruitful results of two months of hard work. He praised the students' innovative talent and team spirit, noting that every project shone with wisdom and enthusiasm! He thanked the partner enterprises for their strong support, which enabled the perfect integration of theory and practice. He expressed his hope that this competition would serve as a starting point for students to embark on a broader stage, looking forward to them changing the world with the power of innovation in the future. Dean Fabien once again congratulated all the winners and thanked every participant for their dedication!

The competition organizing committee was honored to invite Mr. Zhang Dongdong, Human Resources Director of Hangzhou Uni Tree Technology Co., Ltd., to share insights on Uni Tree's entrepreneurial journey and its need for innovative talent. Uni Tree Technology is a world-renowned civilian robotics company, focusing on the independent R&D, production, and sales of high-performance general-purpose legged and humanoid robots and dexterous manipulator arms for consumer and industrial sectors. Director Zhang briefly outlined Uni Tree's growth from its 2016 startup origins to becoming a global leader, introduced the company's demand for innovative talent to the attending students, and encouraged them to continuously break through and advance on their innovation paths.

With this, the 5th UTSEUS Student Innovation Competition "Integrate in Learning, Insight in Innovation" came to a perfect conclusion. The theme of this year's competition, "Eyes on the Future," not only hints at the infinite possibilities of technological innovation through its homophonic connection to AI but also encourages students to keep their "Hands in the Innovation," making the future better through innovative practice.
