On the morning of October 29 (Paris time), the 2018 second joint committee meeting of UTSEU was held at University of Technology of Compiègne, France. Jin Donghan, President of Shanghai University, Zhang Xiaotian, Minister of International Affairs, Ghislain MONTAVON, President of University of Technology of Belfort-Monbéliard, Philippe COURTIER, President of University of Technology of Compiègne, Liao Hanlin, Professor from University of Technology of Belfort-Monbéliard, Gong Xiaolu, Professor from University of Technology of Troyes, Liu Wanyu and Marc BONDIOU, Deans of UTSEUS, attended the meeting. Gong Siyi, Deputy Secretary of the Party Committee and Vice President of Shanghai University, Liu Jianyong, Party Secretary of UTSEUS, and other leaders of related departments attended the meeting by teleconference.

Mr. Liu Wanyu and Mr. Marc BONDIOU, Chinese and French Dean of UTSEUS, reported to the Joint Committee the work of student enrollment at UTSEUS and the selection of students to France in 2018. They also touched upon scientific research cooperation between China and France, industrial relations, students’ extracurricular training and new projects such as the joint summer camp of French language and culture. Leaders from China and France focused on the discussion of the Sino-French International master degree program and reached an agreement to officially launch it. The two sites also reached a consensus on the requirements of the appointment of joint professors employed both by Shanghai University and French Universities of Technology. In November 2018, the first batch of Sino-French joint professors will be officially appointed. At the meeting, President Jin Donghan pointed out that UTSEUS played an important role in promoting internationalization of Shanghai University. Mr. Jin also emphasized that cooperation with european countries especially France was an important part of Shanghai University’s internationalization strategy. Presidents from both sides highly acknowledged the efforts made by the working team of UTSEUS for the past half year, and promised that they would further strengthen communication and cooperation in the fields of high-quality faculty construction, personnel training and scientific research.

On the afternoon of the 29th, invited by University of Technology of Compiègne, President Jin Donghan and other two presidents of Universities of Technology were interviewed by “Le Parisian” and “Picardie Messenger” to introduce the achievements and progress of Sino-French cooperation of UTSEUS. They also talked with four graduates of UTSEUS who were pursuing further study in France.
