The year of 2019 coincided with the 55th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between China and France. In order to guide students to further understand the information of various fields of cooperation between China and France, broaden the horizons of students and help them understand the dynamics of the frontiers of enterprises, UTSEUS invited Mr. Olivier Dubroeucq to deliver a lecture on “Future Opportunities and Challenges for Young Engineers in aeronautics in China”.

Mr. Olivier Dubroeucq, General Manager of Safran and Vice Chairman of China Commercial Aircraft Safran Project (Shanghai), has 16-year experience in a highly technological and international environnement on both R&D and industrial sides for Safran. Thanks to operational positions and corporate audit staff experience, he has very good knowledge of Aerospace and Defence industry. He has held operational and audit positions and has gained a deep understanding of the aerospace and defense industry with his experience. His specialties cover: Department / product line, management, Product, Project and program management, Customer relationship management, Industrial coordination, R&D partnership and innovation management, Inertial Sensor technologies, Complex technological multiparameters systems management.
At 6 pm. on March 28th, the lecture was held as scheduled in Room J103, Baoshan Campus, Shanghai University. The lecture covered three aspects: the prospects and development trends in the aerospace industry, the development of the Safran Group, and the advice for young engineers. Mr. Olivier Dubroeucq first began with the history and development of China’s air transport, comparing the situation of air transport in all major regions of the world. He pointed out that China’s air transport development still has a lot of room for improvement, and as the industry continues to develop, it will bring huge economic effects. Subsequently, Mr. Dubroeucq introduced the basic information of Safran Group, such as core business, employee distribution, corporate mission and so on. At the same time, he highlighted the promotion systems and equipment developed by Safran Group. In the end, Mr. Dubroeucq talked about the current changes in the manufacturing industry and put forward his own views on how young engineers adapt to these changes: asking questions, seeking knowledge, being humble and diligent, and learning from others are keys to success.

This excellent lecture not only broadened the international vision of students, but also enhanced their understanding of corporate culture and deepened their understanding of the development of professional frontiers and the essential elements for becoming a good engineer. The lecture played a positive role in further clarifying the future directions of development for students.
